Follow your heart – stay inspired
I met Erica at her workshop at Berlin Yogatribe in 2016. She is one of those women who inspired me on the spot. Not only because she is an amazing yoga teacher but also because of her incredible art work. Some of you may have seen her beautifully designed book Art of attention. Well yes, that is what I am talking about.
When I learnt about her latest project – a book called Angelus – I got curious and wanted to dig a little deeper. But mostly I wanted to share this with you, my lovelies.
What it’s all about?
Erica Jago and Roos van der Kamp are pioneering Angelus, an experiential chakra workbook that goes beyond the intellectual understanding of the chakras. It consists of a proven methodology of emotionally connected yoga and visually powerful art as a means to see and experience your body’s wisdom. This profound formula has helped them personally through some of the toughest times in their lives. Isn’t that just simply beautiful?
The chakras
For most people, the chakras are mysterious and intangible. But they don’t have to be.
Simply put, when a chakra is out of balance, we experience pain and suffering in our lives. This pain is not something we should hide. Rather, it is a sign that there is something to be learned and explored. The more we resist this pain by pulling away or looking towards others, the further we get from our center.
Angelus teaches you how to rely on the chakras as a guide to embrace your pain and find your purpose.
Yoga & art
In seven chakra-based chapters, the girls share a compilation of the most valuable and effective practices taught during Erica Jago’s retreats around the globe.
Using illustration and graphic design, Erica offers yoga sequences to help you see, soften and heal your emotions.
Through costumes, prop and set design, Roos van der Kamp depicts a heroine’s journey through the chakras, giving each chapter an entirely different look. These seven visual worlds help you relate to the chakras on an intuitive level.
The book offers
- 7 relatable stories about a heroine who finds the courage to face her pain to help you connect emotionally to the essence of each chakra
- 21 heartwarming yoga sequences depicted with easy to comprehend illustrations of the poses (Asanaglyphs) to physically experience the chakras
- 7 insightful, creative exercises inviting you to recreate thought patterns and shift daily habits as they relate to the chakras
- Beginner meditations to help you find peace of mind
Beautifully printed on FSC approved paper, the book is designed to lay flat, next to your yoga mat, opening to a perfect square format of 14 ½” x 14 ½”. To the touch, 128 pages in the middle of the book will be on gloss, with 32 pages in the beginning and at the end printed on matte paper.
About the girls
Erica Jago
During the making of her previous book, Art of Attention, Erica received the help that she needed to heal an addiction she had been battling for 20 years. Since then, she has been helping others connect to their purpose on her chakra study yoga retreats. With Angelus, you can now create a private sanctuary in your home to gracefully move from pain to purpose at your own pace.
Roos van der Kamp
Roos has attended three of Erica’s retreats and found them to be truly transformational. Through a genuine understanding of the chakras, she reconnected to her creativity. When Erica invited her to collaborate on her new book, she immediately saw the opportunity to give her art a higher purpose.
